Louisiana Restaurants
If you are like me and love to travel by car, then this is a page you may find interesting. As you travel through Louisiana you may at some point want to stop and get something good to eat. Well, I have below a list of some of the best places around. These restaurants are located throughout the state.
Alexandria
From Alexandria to Shreveport, east on Hwy. 9 and just off 71 North, enjoy home cooking at the SEA & SIRLOIN RESTAURANT, or two miles further across Black Lake, at the LAKEWOOD INN.
From Alexandria to Loyd Hall and Walnut Grove plantations, on 71 south, LEA'S LUNCHROOM has "the best pie in the south," great sandwiches and honest-to-goodness delicious plate lunches and dinners.
From Alexandria to Leesville, Many and Toledo Bend Reservoir, on Hwy 28 West, visit TUNK'S CYPRESS INN on Lake Kincaid, where everything is delicious.
From Alexandria to Ruston, on Hwy. 71 North, STALKNAKERS RESTAURANT is known for its fabulous seafood.
From Toledo Bend to Lake Charles, along Hwy. 171, try LOS DOS AMIGOS, the wagon master, the HICKORY SMOKEHOUSE or PRESLEY'S ORIGINAL BARBECUE, all near DeRidder.
Baton Rouge
From New Orleans to Baton Rouge take exit 182 off I-10 to THE CABIN , famous for seafood and gumbo.
From Baton Rouge to Nottoway Plantation, stop at the CITY CAF'E on Main St. in Plaquemine, or eat at NOTTOWAY'S wonderful restaurant.
From Baton Rouge to Oak Alley Plantation, LAFITTE'S LANDING RESTAURANT offers impeccable Cajun / Creole food with a french flair and elegant presentation.
From Baton Rouge to Alexandria, SATTERFIELD'S RIVERWALK RESTAURANT and MOREL'S RESTAURANT & INN both offer southern cooking beyond compare.
From New Roads to Opelousas, JOE'S "DREYFUS STORE" south of Hwy. 190 on Hwy. 77 in Livonia is a Louisiana institution.
Lafayette
From Baton Rouge to Lafayette, off I-10 (exit 139 north). MIDWAY GROCERY has the best hamburgers ever and great plate lunches. Also off I-10 (exit 309 south) is CAF'E DES AMIS on Main Street in Breaux Bridge.
From Lake Charles to Lafayette, just off I-10 in Welsh, CAJUN TALES is tops!
From Lafayette to Alexandria, don't miss CATAHOULA'S just off I-49 (exit 11) in Grand Coteau, or stop at the STEAMBOAT WAREHOUSE RESTAURANT in Washington (exit 23).
From Houma south to Cocodrie, just off Hwy. 56, LA TROUVAILLE ("A Lucky Find" in Cajun French) is open October through May in the Dusenberry family's home.
From Lafayette to Houma, along Hwy. 182 south, stop on Main Street in New Iberia at the LAGNIAPPE TOO CAF'E or THE OASIS, in Jeanerette just off 182 at THE YELLOW BOWL, or at RITA MAE'S in Morgan city.
New Orleans
From New Orleans south to Jean Lafitte just off La. 3134, RESTAURANT DES FAMILLES on the banks of Bayou des familles is famous for cajun, creole and seafood.
From Slidell to Covington along Hwy. 22, SAL and JUDY'S ITALIAN ROADHOUSE in Lacombe regularly lures New Orleanians across Lake Pontchartrain.
From Kenner to Hammond on I-55, MIDDENDORF'S RESTAURANT on the shore of Lake Maurepas is home to the world's best fried catfish.
In Mandeville, BENEDICT'S PLANTATION just off the causeway is known as one of Louisiana's most romantic restaurants.
From Mandeville to Ponchatoula along Hwy. 22, MORTON'S RESTAURANT on the banks of the Tchefuncte River in Madisonville is loved for seafood.
Shreveport / Monroe
From Vivian to Bernice along Scenic Byway Hwy. 2, treat yourself to the COUNTRY KITCHEN in Hosston where you serve yourself to real home cooking straight from the stove!
From Shreveport to Cross Lake, don't miss SMITH'S CROSS LAKE INN, a beautiful locale and great food from seafood to steak and veal.
From Shreveport to Monroe, try RABB'S STEAKHOUSE on the Service Road next to I-20 just west of Ruston, or detour through Ruston north on Hwy. 33 to the OLE' FEED HOUSE for southern cooking at its best.
From Monroe to Poverty Point State Commemorative Area, gotta stop at SALJOBAR in Delhi, famous for plate lunches and stick-to-your-ribs country cookin'.
From Monroe to Alexandria, don't miss excellent barbecue at GRAYSON'S SMOKEHOUSE on Hwy. 165. Awesome! Or stop at COTTONWOOD LANDING on Main Street in historic Columbia.
